Officially a Soccer Mom

Hello Friends –

First off – thank you so much for reading my first blog post. I have had over 100 visitors to the website in less 24 hours. That may not seem like a lot to the professional blogger type but that makes this working momma’s heart sing! When I launched yesterday, I told myself that I would be proud if 20 people read my blog so I am like a little kid on Christmas over here! Thanks for being Santa Clause 🙂

So this past weekend, my son Aidan played his first soccer game! When I say soccer game, I really mean little kids soccer camp where they run around and learn how to kick a soccer ball. (He is 2) It was literally so amazing to me how excited I was to watch my little bubba (this is his nickname) get so excited about running around on a field with his daddy kicking a ball around. And ladies let me tell ya – it was super hot watching my husband chase him around giving him all the pointers on being a soccer star! I don’t know about all of you but watching my husband turn into a loving father who cares so deeply for his children has been the biggest turn on…(insert sexual whistling noise here). Come on, I hope your face has not turned red yet but YES, my husband and I have hot sex every now and again! We are parents to two kids under 3 so that is where the every now and again comes from but that is a conversation for a different blog post. Sorry, back to the soccer story….you will find I digress sometimes, please forgive me!

Aidan had an absolute blast playing soccer, he is enrolled in a six week camp so its Soccer Saturday’s for this momma for the next six weeks and I could not be more excited. I truly can relate to my momma now, I never understood the absolute excitement that she exuded every Saturday and sometimes Sunday’s when my sister played. My sister was the soccer stud with the full ride scholarship to college – I did not get the athletic genes at all. My hand-eye coordination was never on point so I stuck to dancing mostly ballet but I dabbled in tap, contemporary and hip hop as well.

I don’t think I will be trading in my Nissan Rogue for a Mini-Van anytime soon but do know that I will be at every practice and game (no matter the sport) rocking my son’s picture pin! You know the one’s they take at the beginning of the season, where your kid is awkwardly smiling, and they make a pin that you can actually wear. Yes, I will totally rock that pin and will be cheering from the sidelines – rain, sleet, snow, hail, sunshine, blizzard or even polar vortex. (I had to include all of the weather options, we live in Michigan where the we literally can drop 40 degrees in one day going from pure sunshine to a blizzard).

I did decide that I am going to try to not be one of those crazy soccer moms that is always yelling at her kid, the coach, and the ref because she thinks she knows best about who should be playing or what the ref should have called. But do know, that I also am not going to be the mom who tells her kid that he is good at everything and promote the participation trophy. He will learn that in life you don’t get to just participate you have to actually engage and drive the results that you want. You can’t just sit back and think that everything is going to come to you just because you participated. Everyday you have to show up for you life and work hard, because you are not just going to be handed a trophy for living.

I hope that my kids feel the love and support of this working momma and know that she worked her ass off so they could go to that soccer game and not have to worry about where their next meal was coming from. I believe that kids are 80% their environment and it is my job as their momma to show them how to conquer this crazy world. Sorry, that got a little deep but I was on a roll…..anyway I am super excited to join the Soccer Mom club but I did promise myself that I will never rock the soccer mom jeans!

Thanks for reading and please feel free to share and invite your friends and family to join the fun!

As always…..Ciao Bella!

~Chloe~
